2. How We Use Your Information

Provide localised weather forecasts and crop-specific advice for your farm location.
Detect crop diseases from photos you submit and display AI-generated results.
Map and manage your farm boundaries using GPS walking or manual drawing.
Display current mandi (market) prices relevant to your region.
Send push notifications for weather alerts, crop reminders, and app updates.
Improve app features and fix bugs using aggregated, anonymised usage data.
Respond to your support requests.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

3. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We work with the following third-party services:

Location coordinates sent to weather APIs are used only to retrieve weather data and are not stored or shared further by us.

4. Data Storage & Retention

On-device storage: Farm maps, crop records, diary entries, and settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data stays on your device unless you choose to export it.
Server storage: Account credentials and profile data are stored on our secure servers. We do not store precise GPS coordinates on our servers.
Retention: We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 6).
Backups: Firebase may retain crash logs and analytics data in anonymised form for up to 14 months per Google's standard retention policy.

5. Security

All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Account passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and never stored in plain text. Access to production data is restricted to authorised team members only.

While we apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep your device software up to date.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your country or region, you may have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data.
Opt-out of analytics — disable Firebase Analytics tracking from within the app settings.
Portability — export your farm data at any time from the app.
Withdraw consent — revoke location or camera permissions at any time from your device settings. Note that some features will not be available without these permissions.

7. Children's Privacy

HANARAD Farmer-Companion is intended for use by adult farmers and agricultural workers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
